According to reports, China is battling to control an increase in Covid-related illnesses following a sudden change in its Zero Covid policy, which mandated severe lockdowns and mass testing. A leading Indian health expert has issued a warning amid the rise in Covid-19 cases in China and urged the public to keep a close eye on the situation there. The expert, however, emphasised that there is no need for concern because the nation's system is "vigilant."

The COVID-19 working group's chairman advises against panic;

"It is crucial that we keep a careful eye on the situation in China. However, I would contend that there is no cause for concern. There is no need to worry excessively. Although the system is incredibly watchful, we also need to be very watchful. The most crucial aspect of genetic surveillance is that it is being conducted on people who have symptoms "says Dr. NK Arora, head of the NTAGI working committee for COVID-19.


Stay alert, advises the Health Ministry:

Health officials will instruct the states and union territories to prepare whole genome sequencing of positive samples and to use the government's COVID network to monitor virus variations.


Rajesh Bhushan, the union health secretary, issued an order to all states and UTs directing them to make every effort to send daily samples of all positive cases to the authorised INSACOG laboratories.

Tally for India Covid-19

According to data from the Union health ministry, India's COVID-19 tally increased to 4,46,76,330 on Wednesday with 131 new infections, while the number of active cases decreased to 3,408.


The data updated at 8 am said that the death toll from the viral sickness rose to 5,30,680 with three additional fatalities, including two deaths confirmed by Kerala and one reported from West Bengal in the recent 24 hours.


Of all infections, there are currently 0.01 percent of active cases. According to the ministry's website, the country's COVID-19 recovery rate increased to 98.80%.


Adar Poonawalla of Serum thinks there's no need to panic.

Despite the rising COVID instances reported in China, we don't need to panic given our outstanding immunisation rates and history. CEO of Serum Poonawalla said that we must keep putting our faith in and adhering to the rules established by the Indian government and ministry of health.
