FIFA World Cup 2022: Neymar sobs uncontrollably following Brazil's defeat to Croatia in penalties 🤕

Brazil was eliminated from the FIFA World Cup 2022 after losing 4-2 to Croatia in a penalty shootout on Saturday. Neymar was visibly upset.

Brazil was thought to be a serious title challenger going into the FIFA World Cup 2022 with players like Neymar, Alisson, and Vinicius Jr. all in excellent shape. However, Croatia, who eliminated the Selecao after defeating them 4-2 on penalties in Saturday's Quarterfinal match, dealt the five-time champions a tough reality check.

Brazilian players were overcome with emotion after the game, notably Neymar, who had believed that his goal had all but guaranteed Brazil's spot in the quarterfinals. However, Bruno Petkovic's equaliser late in extra time insured that the two teams would face off on penalties.

Rodrygo and Marquinhos missed for the five-time World Cup champions, sending Brazil home, while Croatia converted all of their penalty penalties.

Dani Alves, a fellow countryman of Neymar and a former colleague of his at Barcelona, was later seen comforting the Paris Saint-Germain striker after he had shed several tears before he himself offered a shoulder to a furious Rodrygo.

While Brazil's head coach Tite resigned from his position following his team's defeat by Belgium in the World Cup 2018 quarterfinals, having failed at the same obstacle four years prior. Croatia's next opponent will be Lionel Messi's Argentina, who advanced to the semifinals after defeating the Netherlands 4-3 on penalties.

When Messi played for Barcelona, Modric and Messi faced off against one another numerous times throughout their respective careers; however, their most recent match may mark their final appearance on the main stage.
